Last semester, I only visited the library when I needed to study for tests or to socialize with someone who know I was going to there. I can recall only checking out books for my Internet Research Project for Prof. Bowles. I could have improved my study habits by going to library to complete homework, study or to read for classes. I heard people tell me to study in the library however I thought I could do things my way and get great results like I did in high school. I was completely mistaken. I learned that my habits were all wrong, and it was pretty much too late to turn it around.
After reading the book and understanding what works best for me, I have learned that being away from my room is most beneficial to the amount of work I get done. For the past 2 weeks, I have come to Clemons and have done my homework until I was finished. I have formed a small study group with Joy, Jordan and Courtney. We push each other to complete assignments and help each other when we don't understand. Unlike last semester, I read in entirety for all my classes. I also start on assignments early and I try not to procrastinate or put things off for another day when I free time to do them at the library.
I have better expectations for this semester, academically and being more involved on Grounds. I can see things working better for me. I have a positive attitude towards work and being at school as a whole. I believe because of my poor first semester grades, it has propelled me to make a 360 degree change in my habits and attitudes towards classes and homework.
